"Think of The Rainbow Revue as ‘Vaudeville for the New Millennium’", explains producer Matt Gatson. "It’s sort of like ‘The Carol Burnett Show’ meets ‘Laugh-In’ meets ‘American Bandstand’, delivered by a powerhouse, Broadway-worthy cast of 40 acts that could easily each fill a night of theater. Under the direction of Kevin Vavasseur, who had a recurring role in A Different World, and the leadership of head writer Chrisanne Eastwood, a producer of HBO’s hit comedy series Arli$$, The Rainbow Revue features such acts as the synth-pop vocal group, Digital Soldiers; Tiko Rojas and his band; and juggler and unicyclist Pinky Aiello. In all, The Rainbow Revue features six comics, nine singers, four dancers, eight musicians (not counting the bands), five writers and several specialty acts.

"THE RAINBOW REVUE" MAKES THEATER HISTORY AT THE IVAR THEATRE APRIL 5TH

40 Acts From The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Community Converge for an Explosion of Entertainment

 

(Hollywood, CA) "The Rainbow Revue", heralded by some as "Vaudeville for the New Millennium", explodes onto the stage at the Ivar Theatre in Hollywood April 5th, featuring a 40 acts drawn from the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community, including writers, singers, dancers, comics and musicians.

"There has never been a show produced at the scale of The Rainbow Revue featuring talent drawn exclusively from the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community", explains producer, Matt Gatson. "We have created a showcase for some of the world’s greatest talent in an environment that celebrates diversity and provides a theatrical thrill ride for people of all ages from any walk of life," he adds, "and we expect some big surprises". In fact, four extra minutes are built into the second act of The Rainbow Revue, as some of the more famous members of the GLBT community have already expressed an interest in making special appearances in some performances of the show’s four-week initial run.

ABOUT MATT GATSON

Matt Gatson is the sole producer of The Rainbow Revue.

Gatson is a graduate of Michigan State University. While attending MSU, he was the Director of the Lesbian & Gay Council and was at the forefront of the Gay Rights movement in the early 1980s. He also served on the Union Activities Board and was the representative for the minority and protected class students to the Student Governing Board (ASMSU). In addition, he also was involved with bringing major talent and notables to the campus for concerts and great issues.

Since 1985 he has worked in Hollywood on various feature films, television series and made for TV movies. Some of his credits include "Hoosiers," "Platoon," "Three For The Road," "Maid To Order," "Fright Night Part II," "Christy," (the mini-series) and a host of other films and television shows.

On a personal level, Matt has been a Human Rights Activist for many years. He is a member of the ACLU, Amnesty International, and The Lansing Organization for Human Rights. He has served on city and state government boards, both advisory and legislative.
